It seems that Camy used the Soviet name "Sputnik" for some time, with various watch models marked on the dial with this name, beneath the "CAMY" branding. Here is just one example (pics from i.ebayimg.com):

I had no idea of the date connection. 

It seems that they knew they would release a 'space' themed watch at that time and probably registered a few names to see if anything could become of those names.

I guess it's common practice.
