Rolex Explorer 2

Question

I have owned this watch ca. 8 years. In 2016 I took it in to Goldsmiths to replace the broken glass when it fell on to a stone floor. They said it would have to be checked and serviced by Rolex to ensure all the broken glass inside the case was removed. Initially all was good but over the past two years the timekeeping has become progressively worse until it is now losing about a minute a day. A minute a day! A Rolex! Worn, or on a watch turner, makes no difference.  Can this just be the watch needing another (expensive) service or could there be a bit of debris in there or something damaged in the movement? Can anyone offer any advice on what I should do? I have other watches that are fine.

Probably the oil they used was at end of its life.............

Hopefully you got some sort of guarantee after they serviced it? Goldsmiths do their own repairs on site as well so just check that it actually did go to Rolex themselves.........
