How about this then..

Bigger than the orig 38mm

Using a modern movement.. has plenty of history.. it has modern charm.. can easily fold itself into any collection and have reason to be there. It is a talking point when under discussion.. you don't have to put it into a safe.. it could become a daily beater without worry.. it is reliable..

The only thing it doesn't have is the ability for people who collect watches to boast about how much it costs.

Edit.. TBH.. I would like one on a case fitting solid stainless steel bracelet. In my opinion its the only thing that lets it down.. ps. Watch this space.

They can always post about how little it costs. No problem, it’s a good watch.

Oh, please don’t tar us all with the same brush, old boy. Some of us do understand the intricate and arcane ramifications of the demotic Anglo-Saxon, post-Norman tongue.

But on the whole I agree. It would be better indeed were people to read threads before contributing to them.

I'm guilty of it too

Tried one, hate foreign languages on the dial, especially ones that look like a 4 year old drew the characters. I know I should say no offense to those of that language, but I don't care. I'm sure English looks similar to them. So it's a fair retort to say it in return. All I can say is I want to be able to read what's on my watch and there's zero wrong with that. End of story. Full stop.

Being a linguist, I have an absolutely diametric view on this.  Suffice to say that we are talking about an ancient and scholarly writing system.  I have to disagree.

It’s also worth noting that English is a foreign language in most of the world.

Don't care. My watch my money. Nothing I can't read, end of story. And there's nothing wrong with that at all

But..

Will it blend?

I hope to find out tomorrow

(Although I've gone for a 38mm Sugess Panda dial, but it's basically the same thing).

I had the same concern. For a small budget hand winding watch it fits a want for me, but as mention before I didn't want Chinese (or Russian) on the dial.

I ended up going for one of these as something cheap, cheerful and a bit different to my normal narrow choices.
