Tudor Royal

I like it about as much as any other Tudor I have seen. I’m trying to think what I like most: the pointless bezel; the Roman numerals could have been done by a prep school boy at the back of the Latin lesson; the excrescence at the top of the watch to remind the mentally incontinent what day of the week it is; or the complete absence of anything resembling lugs.

I’ll get back to you.

Haha not keen then

Sorry, no. Not a Tudor fan. The only one that really struck a chord with me was the Ranger, which was so nice they decided to stop making it.

Most aspects of the Black Bay are fine. The hands are completely gross, however, and given that I would have to look at them every time I wanted to see what time it was, it’s a nonstarter.

I'm mentally incontinent and have to carry a bag around containing a piece of paper with the day of the week on it  but even I hate the separate day window at 12 o'clock

Quite a few Tudors so very nearly fit the bill for me (but each just misses nonetheless for one reason or another eg as @AVO observed about the BB58 hands).  However, as I see it, the Royal is a ball bowled so wide of the crease that the fielder at square-leg could intercept the wayward delivery without moving...:laughing2dw:

But we all like different things and what I think really, really doesn't matter...

Gigantic no for me. Not a fan of this or it's Rolex counterpart it's mimicking.

"It's mimicking"

(Is it possible to type in a silly high pitched voice?)

To the original question, I am a fan of Tudor, but not mad on the Royal, I prefer the Glamour that is a similar price point.

They do come up with crappy names though because that sounds like I prefer a fashion magazine to a burger.

And Rolex prices! (At least for that one!)

I usually buy them for about 30 quid a pop and get a couple of summers out of them. They gradually go down the list from best Panama to holiday Panama to gardening hat. I didn’t buy one last year for some reason.

A couple of years ago in Lanzarote a sharp gust of wind took my holiday Panama straight over a chain link fence into a locked building site (it was Easter weekend) and straight down a 50 foot hole. Rather glad I wasn’t wearing a £7K hat.
