Morning :)

Starting today with dad's Rotary, he was presented with it from his work in 1982. Doing stuff in garden alter so will change to a more appropriate watch for working then.

Dad's tatty old Lorus for me today. I remember him every day, but 6 June is always a special day that he never forgot, as its the day he trundled up Sword beach in a Churchill AVRE.

May be going out shortly so dressing the old wrist up a little, with this Cal. 40.10 bumper.

1946 was a very good year for Omega, in the battle for precision, and 75 years on this is still no slouch in the time-keeping department.

The strap has been around the block a few times in different watches, now home to roost, 2mm Italian leather ('brandy') single pass, from vintagewatchstraps.

Sobering to think though that the watch strap - although only leather - may well outlast me

Maybe I should start using tack care products on my skin?

I said exactly the same to my sister a couple of weeks ago - when I showed her how well I'd been able to revive some old leather items (handbags, wallets and writing cases) with saddle soap and leather balsam.  We pondered whether slathering some on our own chops would bring about the same restorative effects.

Forgot to mention what a lovely watch it is.

Morning,

This poor old Elco deserves to have been treated with a bit more care during its 80 years of life. Probably made by C. Ruefli-Flury & Cie (Era Watch Co) on the basis that they are Mikrolisk’s only Swiss attribution and their 1936-registered Elco brand has the same style of wordmark.

It runs on a 15j Elco L105S, likely based on something like an AS 1158 but with a much modified bridge configuration.

Regards.
