Final goodbye to my Mum today. "Commemoration of the life", nobody does funerals any more.

She made it to ninety six years old, so there will be lots to "commemorate".

Watch choice  --  like her  --  restrained quality.

Hope it all goes well for you pal. I was torn between a like and a sad face but I think that 96 definitely warrants a like.

This is getting a far greater percentage of my wrist time than it probably should to be fair, but in the "what ticks your boxes" thread I probably should have just posted this picture.

I absolutely love this watch, 100% a keeper and permanent member of the bricey collection, and so pleased that the wonderful @it'salivejim listed it on this fine site (and that he did so as I was having a mosey through the classifieds!)

Hope the day passes with plenty of wonderful memories, some sunshine and a family all united to remember your mum.

Ps. That is another beauty, but none of us would expect any less, sir.

Morning.

Their watchmaking concern was just about on life support when Smiths produced this example around 1970. By then they had resorted to using movements like the 1j Ronda 1215 in this frankly poor effort and ceased watch production soon afterwards.

I’m not a fan of “dead” brands being bought and then resurrected, as they’re often crap compared to the original vintage versions. However, from what I’ve seen on this forum and elsewhere, the current iteration of Smiths watches seems to buck that trend by a country mile.

Regards.
