2 stroke motorcycles

Anyone else into 2 strokes ?

Definitely.

someone near me is running around on a beautifully done LC 350 with expansion pipes, and it sounds lovely. My mate has a restored RD 500, a RG500, and a NSR  400, all in "fag company" colours. The Yamaha is Marlborough, Suzuki Lucky Strike, and the Honda, Rothmans. They're getting to be silly money now.

Had these, (library pictures) long gone now, wished I'd kept both. The MZ was superb, I had the offer of another one recently, but there was no V5, and the asking price was a bit heavy. I had a lighting kit on the CZ, and road gearing, and it was fast, and brutal on fuel. I've been tentatively looking for an old Greeves with a V5 and put a Starmaker motor in it. I could sneak it into the house for a rebuild. :laughing2dw:

That looks a great job . My own experience was with MZ 150 and 250 mix it yourself in the petrol tank.
what happened to all those 2 stroke “fire extinguishers “ on garage forecourts where you could preset the mix to dispense with your petrol.

What didn't get scrapped now gets sold for loads of money at memorabilia auctions.

Stunning , never really had a passion for 4t . In the 80's for me were FS1E's and Suzuki AP 50's . The of course the RD250/350 lc's and later on the 350 YPVS . I married the pair for rideability in my elder years lol

A garage in a village near me still had one up to about 5 years ago.

I had a YB100. It was the FS1Es slightly bigger, more sensible brother (the rear chain was fully enclosed making it an inexpensive commuter bike)

Happy days!

Ah, the smell of the old 2 stroke as it hurtled down the road with clouds of blue smoke when they got the mix wrong  Personally I had a Suzuki GT500 2 stroke twin which had a separate tank for the 2 stroke oil which was injected and oddly enough for a 2stroke would only rev to about 7000rpm.
