Apeks 1000m.

Apeks today. At sub £150 brand new for the 1000m version, one of the best VFM watches out there. Powered by the reliable Seiko VX42 quartz movement, the 1000m version has a manual HEV at the 9 position. Also available in 200 and 500m versions (without the HEV). Similar watches can also be found under such brand names as ‘Divex’, ‘Aqualung’, ‘Tauchmeister’, etc.

My latest acquisition which arrived yesterday courtesy of @Pete wildingwhom I purchased it from. This fabulous Certina DS First ceramic Chronograph quartz watch presented on a “rice bead “ steel bracelet . The watch face is 41mm (45mm inc crown) .It has a sapphire crystal surrounded by a unidirectional ceramic bezel. The Hands, all seven of them stand out well against the black dial .Apart from the traditional hour /minute hand there is a sub dial with an easily distinguishable second hand at 6o’clock. The “stop watch” has an excellent sweeping second and minute hand and there is an hour sub dial at 9o’clock and a hundredth of a minute sub dial at 2o’clock. But despite the very busy face it is all very easy to read and what is impressive on this watch is how accurate the sweeping second hand is aligning with the minute markers. What did worry me slightly is that lug to lug it is 51mm but it really does sit comfortably on my 7” wrist. It is apparently WR to 200 mm but that doesn’t really bother me because I’ve never seen a Chronograph being a watch needing to be worn as a diving watch. The depth of the watch is 14mm and the backplate is finely engraved with the “ Turtle” Certina logo. Although only having had the watch for the past day, I am really impressed with the quality of this watch for the price. Originally I wasn’t really interested in having the metal bracelet but I’m glad I did because I think it really compliments the quality of the watch.

Looking forward to “playing “ with this today.
