Reading an article and came across the movement on this Bernhard Lederer Central Impulse Chronometer, and it took my breath away, so I thought I'd share:

Tell me that is not a thing of beauty?

I'd even forgive the lack of symmetry and skeleton view on the dial.

Full article which includes some other stunning (and stunningly expensive) timepieces is here: https://monochrome-watches.com/buying-guide-the-best-watches-by-independent-watchmakers-in-2021/

It even has an MG to please @yokel

It is magnificent indeed. It does remind me of Terminator after he has taken some serious amount damage. Weird I know.

£104,643, not an impulse buy then ?

You could almost buy half a house for that kind of money.

Or a top spec Porsche 911 and a Dacia Sandero and still have enough change to buy a Happy Meal.

That is the level of impulse where I am able to exhibit amazing impulse control. Almost Monk-like.

Pay attention at the back there. :Snore:

You could get a house (in Caithness) a Dacia Sandero, and the return bus fare for a happy meal in Inverness. :laughing2dw:

Watches are jewellery for the sort of bloke who doesn't go in for nose studs.

As jewellery goes, I think the Dacia Sandero is rather prettier. And you'd have enough left from your budget for a house in Caithness.

Much like the Lange Zeitwerk: just because you can do something doesn't mean that you should.

Ugly.

I'll get my coat

To clarify . . . .

That comment is aimed at the dial. The movement is really quite attractive.

Yeah, I'll agree with that sentiment.

The dial reminds me of a cheap Bulova that was one of my first Automatics, the back, both the movement and the way they've designed the crystal in a fashion similar to what we are used to on the front of something like a Max Bill to give edge to edge views, is a thing of beauty to me.

I guess it's the horological equivalent of a BOBFOC.
