If You Had To Reduce This Collection Down…

Recommended Posts

With my birthday on the horizon and no room left for any more watch boxes, I'm considering halving the collection and buying just one more piece. What I'm going to buy doesn't matter at this stage, but what is causing me grief is which watches to stick or twist :(

Although I know at least five I'd like to hang on to, it'd be interesting to see what everyone else thinks. So from this list, I'd appreciate a list of 8 to KEEP!!! I'll be doing a tally and see where it is at the end.

Here's the list:

  1. Armida A7
  2. Ball Fireman
  3. Breitling Windrider Chronomat
  4. Damasko DA47
  5. Fortis Fleiger
  6. Glycine Airman SST 06
  7. Hamilton Automatic Chronograph
  8. Longines Legend Diver
  9. Omega Seamaster f300HZ
  10. Poljot Traveller Alarm
  11. Poljot Aviator 3133
  12. Sinn 556
  13. Sinn U1
  14. Smiths PRS-68
  15. Speedbird III GMT
  16. Squale 1521 50 Atmos
  17. Vostok Amphibia 1967 reissue
  18. Vostok Amphibia 710SE

I'm looking forward to seeing the results :)

4,5,6,7 & 8

That's only 5

keep 6 & 16 , 8 if its the rose gold one. no half measures mate.

That's only 2

sell the ones that are easy to replace, like the f300. then when you do have sellers remorse you can always pick another one up!

This is the rarer f300 1250 with the standard lugs so you can fit any strap, rather than Omega-only bracelet. Plus it's my birth-year watch, so not such an easy replacement :(

Here you go...

  1. Fortis Fleiger
  2. Glycine Airman SST 06
  3. Hamilton Automatic Chronograph
  4. Longines Legend Diver
  5. Omega Seamaster f300HZ
  6. Poljot Aviator 3133
  7. Smiths PRS-68
  8. Vostok Amphibia 1967 reissue

Thank you Mach – you read the post :)

But no Sinn? Something against German watches?

I would sell them all except for the Omega as that is your birth-year watch.. That is simply because there are none there that would be on my wish list.

Nothing wrong with any of them but as you chose them I reckon you are the only one who could decide which to keep.

well potentially 3. but of what you have they are the only 2 (or 3) that would be keepers for me.

if i had your collection to tinker with it would then be my collection

there are sinn, fortis omega etc i like but they aint in your particular list.

when the fat lady sings, at the end of the day, things being equal, all that matters is that you choose what you like - other peoples opinions are exactly that - other peoples.

You are, of course, exactly right :)

Not a recommendation, but just what I would do (although in this weird IAJ alternative universe, I'd probably keep them all  ) with reasons noted, mainly on reducing type/style overlaps.

[*]Damasko DA47 - it's full lume!

[*]Glycine Airman SST 06 - it's 24hr!

[*]Longines Legend Diver - it's a lovely compressor!

[*]Omega Seamaster f300HZ - it's a birth year!

[*]Poljot Aviator 3133 - it's more interesting than the Fortis that copied it *cough*!

[*]Sinn U1 - it's a style one-off!

[*]Vostok Amphibia 1967 reissue - it's cool and hard to replace!

[*]Vostok Amphibia 710SE - it's now your only beater!

Well, you did ask :D

This is actually proving very useful, and by combining and comparing the answers on here with the answers from another forum, I can see a clear style pattern emerging. And the list is taking shape with 5 clear front runners

Keep up the list TWF :)

The big question is, will I have the cojanes to act out this foolhardy mission

If i were you, and could, I'd keep them all, great collection, but if pushed for me it'd be:-

Armida A7 - it's bronze

Ball Fireman - that bit uncommon

Smiths PRS 68 - clean looks and crown at 4 what's not to like

Speedbird 3 GMT - to fill the GMT itch and 24hr dial

Squale 1521 - looks great

Longines legend diver - lovely looking diver

Vostok amphibia 1967 - classic looks

Omega seamaster f300 - birth year and it's omega and it hums. Hmmmmmm Love omegas...)

That'd be my 8, but I'd be happy with any combination of that collection...enjoy

My keepers would be: 1, 4, 8, 10, 12, 13, 14 and 15.

Dispose of the rest and get something interesting/out of the ordinary such as the Ulysse Nardin for sale over on TZ.

How do the forums compare?

Im only a member of this one.

Does this mean theirs going to be a sale?

There aren't as many Seikos and Russians on the other one

It's Christopherwardforum.com

And there may be some sales coming up - I need to do a final analysis :)
