I cheated and went for this instead, it helped that it was a piece I lusted after in any case, although I'd still like to find a nice watch from what was clearly a classic year! :yes: :biggrin:

1961 Seamaster cal 552 auto , bought off the forum a good few years ago ,as spares or repairs, serviced with omega crystal crown and seals on genuine period omega strap and buckle

I have a few watches that "could" be my birth year of 1962, but this is the only one I have been able to definitively date to that year. A rather beaten up Omega Seamaster calibre 552, originally from the Zurich watch store Türler.
1977, the year we lost Elvis and Charlie Chaplin, but saw these to beauties (and the slightly less appealing youra truly) make their first appearances.
I got a 1964 precision for the wife's birth year but she doesn't like manual wind so she now has a 1990 op which happens to be my eldest daughters birth year
